1. Attack The Block

Massive Adam and Joe fan - http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00876k2 Always loved their stuff, maybe especially so because it can be oh so childish. But for Joe Cornish to break out into a genre film about inner city kids fighting monsters? Really?

Really. Quality from start to finish with a humour that is sadly lost in the attached trailer. Real, believable characterisation and a terrifying ear for ‘yoof’ dialogue that as a certified middle class white boy I can only assume is genuine. What is nice is that this isn’t just a distinctly British take on the invasion genre but one that shorn of it’s UK roots would still be fresh. I hope there isn’t a US remake on the cards but I could at least understand why in this case.

Great cast, fun monsters, good jokes.
